About Angus Barrett

Angus is a passionate and skilled craftsman who has spent many years developing and improving his trade.  Growing up on a property near Coolah NSW, Angus used horses constantly for both stock work and leisure and competed regularly in rodeo and horse events.

After leaving Coolah in 1994, Angus travelled Australia, working in the rural and mining industries.  However, there was never a time when Angus was away from his leather tools for long, always finding a need or a keen customer for his craft. In 2000, Angus established his manufacturing business in Orange, NSW.  What started as a small box of tools and a dream, has grown to a successful, international and industry-leading business. 

Angus Barrett's Philosophy

Angus' background of growing up in a rural community has provided him with important values on which the philosophy of Angus Barrett, the business, are built. Angus understands the importance of customer relations and his philosophy is to deal and trade honestly, to work with customers to create a product best designed to suit their particular needs, and to make and sell the highest quality goods, goods that Angus Barrett will stand behind.

The principle characteristic of any Angus Barrett product is quality. People who recognise quality and appreciate a design that is functional and durable are the customers that keep coming back to Angus Barrett. Angus Barrett is fast becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of saddlery products. 

In 2007 Angus travelled to the USA to enhance his saddlery skills and manufacturing techniques.  Angus studied under two of the world's leading saddle makers, Randy Severe (Oregon, USA) and Joey Jemison (Texas, USA).  Angus also travelled to OMAX in Seattle to research the world's leading manufacturer of precision cutting water jets. 

Angus Barrett purchased an OMAX water jet in 2009 and is now the first saddler in the world to use water jet cutting technology to manufacture his saddlery products.*

Angus Barrett's water jet cutting techniques allow Angus Barrett to continuously update and create new designs.  Angus Barrett is now producing some of the most innovative and unique designs in saddlery throughout the world. 

Angus Barrett combines the water jet technology with traditional saddlery techniques to produce an exceptional, quality product that is designed to work and made to last. 

About BARRETT Industries

As well as his experience in saddlery and rural industries, Angus Barrett also has considerable experience working in the mining industry, having worked in mines throughout Western Australia and New South Wales. 

After establishing his manufacturing business in Orange, NSW, Angus Barrett discovered a demand for quality canvas and PVC products for the local mining, construction and engineering industries. 

This has given rise to BARRETT Industries, which manufactures top quality, functional and durable canvas and PVC products, including tool bags, spanner rolls, crib bags, first aid equipment, tarpaulins and protective covers.  BARRETT Industries can customise its products by incorporating the customer's company logos, colours and designs. 

BARRETT Industries works with mining, construction and engineering companies and local customers to supply high-grade, quality products to suit their needs.
